Thelma I. Jensen, 85, of Sioux City died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:45 a.m. Monday at First Evangelical Free Church, with the Rev. Dan Doran officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will resume 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church.

Thelma Irene Jensen was born Aug. 17, 1916, in Battle Creek, the daughter of George and Christine (Sandberg) Feddersen. She attended rural schools around Battle Creek and Ida Grove, Iowa. She graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1934. She taught rural school for two years.

She married Carl C. Jensen on Aug. 8, 1937, in Sioux City. Two daughters were born to this union, Sharon and Cheryl. Thelma worked at T.S. Martin and J.C. Jenneys at one time. For the past 40 years, she was an Avon representative. She was a President's Club Member of Avon every year since its inception in 1978. She won a cruise to the Bahamas in 1979. Her husband died Jan. 29, 1982, in Sioux City.

She was a member of First Evangelical Free Church and served as chairwoman of White Cross with Women's Ministries at the church for the past 25 years. She was program director for the Joy Group and an active member of Maranatha Sunday School. She was program chairwoman for the Gospel Mission and active in the Christian Women's Club. Thelma baby-sat for Mothers of Preschoolers (M.O.P.S.) at both Morningside Reformed and First Evangelical Free Churches. She had a ministry of cards and letters, especially remembering birthdays and anniversaries. She loved to bake and sew.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Elaine and her husband, Bert Aunan of Des Moines, and Cheryl Ann Jensen of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Lori and her husband, Bruce McCauley of Des Moines, and Greg Aunan of Dallas, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan McCauley, 12, and Trevor McCauley, 7.

She also was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Schmidt, Evelyn Frahm and Helen Feddersen; and a brother, Franklin Feddersen.

Pallbearers will be Don Boneschans, Buck Johnson, Dave Blair, Arend Schreur, Mike Ritter and Charlie Harrington.

Memorials in her name may be directed to First Evangelical Free Church.
