Robert Lee Lingle, 66, of Hot Springs, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, S.D.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Behrens Mortuary in Rapid City, with the Rev. Les Potts officiating. Burial will be in Black Hills National Cemetery.

Robert was born April 23, 1936, in Richland, S.D., to Albert and Ruby (Lias) Lingle. He grew up in Union County, S.D.

He married Frances Schincke on Jan. 22, 1955, in Elk Point, S.D. Following their marriage they moved to Southern California, where they lived for 11 years. They moved to Sioux City in 1972, then to Rapid City in 1988.

He served in the National Guard from 1955 to 1985. He retired from the National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post 71.

He loved fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Lingle of Hot Springs; a daughter, Barb Lind of Beresford, S.D.; two sons and their wives, Dave and Rhonda Lingle of Rapid City and Chuck and Shar Lingle of Rapid City; two brothers, Charles Lingle of McCook Lake, S.D., and Alfred Lingle of Brookings, S.D.; a sister, Joy Zacek of Elk Point; and five grandchildren, Megan, Mike and Meredith Lind, all of Beresford and Brandon and Brittany Lingle of Rapid City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Elly Lingle.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
