Joan Lamoureux Redmond, 77, of Arvada, Colo., formerly of Sioux City and Akron, Iowa, died Jan. 15, 2002, at a Wheatridge, Colo. hospital from a four-month bout with cancer ending in a massive brain hemorrhage.

Services were held Jan. 21 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Arvada. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron, with Monsignor Zink officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.

Joan "Jody" was born March 23, 1925, in Union County, S.D. After graduating from Akron High School in 1943 and a three month stay in California, she started working in the Akron Savings Bank.

She married Orville "Butch" Bengston in 1948 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. They made their home in Sioux City. She was employed with Seff Insurance Company. They had two daughters while living in Sioux City. In 1958, they were transferred, with his job, to the Denver, Colo. area and they lived in Arvada.

Later she married Matthew Redmond. She was employed with Moore Realty for many years, retiring in 1993.

Jody traveled extensively and she belonged to several bridge clubs, a bowling league and did a lot of charity work. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where she was active in the Senior Club. She was also active in the Arvada Center of Performing Arts.

She is survived by her husband, Matthew Redmond; two daughters and their husbands, Micheline and Steven Svanda of Castle Rock, Colo., and Deborah and Michael Desantis of Arvada; five grandchildren, Kyle, Kelly and Alisha Svanda and Dena and Devin Desantis; two brothers and their wives, Ted and Jenny Lamoureux of Sioux City and Jack and Rita Lamoureux of Nokomis, Fla. and Minnetonka, Minn.; two sisters and their husbands, Barbara and Rich Coyle of Akron and Polly and Roy Porter of South Sioux City; and nine nieces and eight nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Loretta (Boden) Lamoureux.
