Gertrude E. Barrett, 82, of Sioux City died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Harvest Westside Nursing and Rehab Center of complications with Alzheimer's.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. John Hantla officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Barrett was born March 20, 1920, in Reliance, S.D., the daughter of John William and Rosetta (Enderle) Spray. She had lived in Sioux City most of her life. She was an aircraft riveter in California during World War II. She then worked for Sioux City Battery.

She married Paul V. Barrett on Dec. 11, 1954, in South Sioux City. He died May 18, 1993, in Sioux City.

She was a longtime member of the Church of All Nations.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Robert Burt of Papillion, Neb., and JoAnn and Charles Stephenson of Sioux City; two brothers and their wives, Howard and Delores Spray of Lake Andes, S.D., and David and Marilyn Spray of Fremont, Neb.; two sisters and their husbands, Louetta and Albert Scott of Roswell, N.M., and Charlene and Peter Gentile of Sioux City; two grandchildren and their wives, Stephen and Lisa Burt and Scott and Stacia Burt; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Ryan and Joshua Burt and Nicolette Ethofer.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, LeRoy "Bud" Spray and A.J. "Cy" Spray; a granddaughter, Sandra Stephenson; and a grandson, Sean Burt.

Pallbearers will be Charles Stephenson, Robert Burt, Stephen Burt, Scott Burt, Nathan Hembd and David Spray.
