Melva B. Grenier, 74, of Sioux City died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Grenier was born July 22, 1927, in Walthill, Neb., the daughter of Collier and Mildred (Gallup) Chase. She moved to Sioux City as a young girl. She attended school in South Sioux City and graduated from South Sioux City High School.

She married Fred Grenier on March 22, 1975, in North Sioux City. She was the owner and operated Melva's Ceramics. She enjoyed working in her shop.

Survivors include her husband, Fred of Sioux City; a son, Dick Tott of Sioux City; a daughter, Nancy Tott of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three stepsons, Bradley Grenier of Sioux City, Matthew Grenier and his wife, Debbie of Remsen, Iowa, and Tony Grenier of Sioux City; three sisters, Lorraine and her husband, Max Krumwiede, and Evelyn and her husband, Harold Gill, all of South Sioux City, and Sharon Chase of Sioux City; two brothers, Byron Chase of Sioux City, and Norman Chase and his wife, Donna of Abingdon, Md.; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Collier and Kenney Chase; and a sister, Karen Chase.
