Dorothy J. Adams, 69, of Sioux City died Friday, May 17, 2002, at her residence following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Bruce Lawler officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Dorothy J. Watterson was born Sept. 29, 1932, in Sioux City, the daughter of Lebert and Mary (Terell) Watterson. She attended Sioux City public schools.

She married Keith Adams on May 7, 1949, in Sioux City.

She was a school cook for 25 years, working five years with Sioux City public schools and the last 20 years at Sacred Heart Parochial. The last 18 years she was head of the lunch program.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City. She enjoyed sports, her family, the kids at school, and her dog "Susey."

Survivors include her husband; three daughters and their husbands, Jenny and Art Abraham of Sioux City, Julie and Mike Martin of Sioux City, and Jane and Danny Hockett of Sioux City; six sisters, Nelimae Keairns of Sioux City, Wanetta Schultz of Sioux City, LaVern Carlson of Sioux City, Mary Ellen Irish of Phoenix, Ariz., Roberta Thiele of Sioux City, and Judy Mehess of Davenport, Iowa; a brother, Lebert Watterson Jr. of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Timothy Shults of Sioux City, Shane Martin of Sioux City, Dori Koster of South Sioux City, Derek Martin of Sioux City, Renee Keleher of Sioux City, and Danny Joe Hockett II of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lee Watterson.

Pallbearers will be Art Abraham, Tim Shults, Darren Koster, Chuck Shultz Jr., Toni Schultz, and Dan Carlson.
