Carl M. Wirsing, 74, of Sioux City died Monday, April 29, 2002, in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God, with Pastors Opal and Donald Hoefert officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Wirsing was born April 11, 1928, in Sioux City, the son of Stephen A. and Grace B. (McLean) Wirsing. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Mabel M. (DeWitt) Saul on Feb. 6, 1960, in Elk Point, S.D. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Sioux Tools for many years. Mrs. Wirsing died May 29, 1996, in Sioux City.

He was a member of First Assembly of God.

Survivors include a sister and her husband, Charlene and Jay Van Oort of Rochester, Minn.; a special friend, Joyce Nichols of Sioux City; two nephews and their wives, Steven and Sue Van Oort and Craig and Carol Van Oort, all of Rochester; and a niece, Karen Van Oort-Hicks of Woodbury, Minn.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Wirsing.

Memorials may be directed to First Assembly of God.
