SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- John W. Wehde, 89, of South Sioux City died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at his residence following a brief illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Dillman of Southern Hills Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

John W. Wehde was born April 25, 1913, in Omaha, to Hugo and Anna (Travitski) Wehde. He married Borgel "Betty" Johme on May 25, 1952, in Dakota City. She passed away Feb. 13, 1993, in Sioux City.

He moved to Sioux City and attended Sioux City Community Schools. He worked for Armour Packing Plant in Sioux City. He lived in the Sioux City area for the majority of his life. He enjoyed being with his family and fixing things around the house.

Survivors include a daughter, Rangdi Jorgensen of Sioux City; a stepdaughter and her husband, Margaret and John Gill of South Sioux City; two sisters, Dorothy Farrer and Elizabeth Simon, both of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Megin Jorgensen of Sioux City, Kasey Jorgensen of McCook Lake, S.D., Erix Reese and Shari Reese, both of Sioux City; and several other relatives.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hugo and Henry; and two sisters, Irene and Mary.
