Val B. Boulware, 71, of Sioux City died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at a Sioux City nursing home following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Boulware was born Aug. 7, 1930, in rural Scranton, Iowa, the son of Alva Lee and Loetta Pearl (Stiles) Boulware. He attended school in the Scranton area.

He married Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Miller on Sept. 16, 1957, in Luverne, Minn. He was employed with the Buick and Honda dealership in Sioux City for 28 years.

He was a member of the Nostalgia Stock Car Association. He enjoyed fishing, bingo, stock car racing as a spectator and driver, camping, traveling and motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Louise; two daughters, Jenelle Boulware and Marsha Tenorio, both of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Perry and Judy Boulware and Kelly and Roxanne Boulware, all of Sioux City; three brothers and their wives, Robert and Darlene Boulware of San Diego, Calif., Si and Carolee Boulware of Yale, Iowa, and Scott and Marilyn Boulware of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Katheryn Thomas of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Madeline Baker of Audubun, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Rita Boulware of Jefferson, S.D.; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Val Gene Boulware.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy, Cody, Todd, Travis and Tony Boulware and Tony Miller.

Memorials may be directed to his family.
