Ida R. Wilcox, 97, of Sioux City died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Sunrise Retirement Home in Sioux City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Martha Anderson from Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wilcox was born April 28, 1905, in Oto, Iowa, the daughter of Frank J. and Elizabeth S. (Livermore) Downing.

She married Clifford L. Wilcox on May 10, 1923, in Onawa, Iowa. She was a homemaker. Mr. Wilcox passed away Aug. 26, 1977, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church, where she served as a former president, vice president and secretary of the Joy Circle. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, flowers, knitting and crocheting. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Donovan "Steve" and Charlotte Wilcox of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Roxia and Jess Lang of Des Moines, and Sandy and Dave Christman of Sioux City; 28 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Gilbert Lee Wilcox; two daughters, Pauline Jessip and Carmen Mann; seven brothers; and five sisters.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Dan Verbeski, Cliff Wilcox, Tim Wilcox, Jim Christman, Jeff Lang, Terry Mann, David Jessip and Don Verbeski.
