Sonjia Jean Risner, 39, of Sioux City died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Orange City Health System in Orange City, Iowa following a lengthy illness.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Ms. Risner was born July 25, 1962, in Sioux City, the daughter of Edward R. and Joann K. (Cline) Risner Sr. She attended Franklin Elementary School Woodrow Wilson Junior High School and graduated from high school in Waverly, Iowa. She was employed by the hospital in Cherokee, Iowa, while she attended nursing school in 1981.

She attended the First Church of The Nazarene.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Joann and William Henry of Sioux City; her father and stepmother, Edward and Sharon Risner Sr. of Dakota City; a brother, Eddie Risner of Sioux City; four sisters, Candy and her husband, Charles Merryman II ,of Sergeant Bluff, Rhonda and her husband, Tony Gunsolly, of Sioux City, Misty Johnson of Whiting, Iowa, and Teresa and her husband, Mike Waybright, of Dakota City; maternal grandmother, Viola Cline of Sioux City; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward R. Risner Jr.; maternal grandfather, Clarence Cline; paternal grandparents, Eldon Risner and Eunice Sherwood; and a nephew, Austin R. Gunsolly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
