Death Claims William T. Rae
Department Store Employe Here 56 Years Answers Call

A resident of Sioux City 56 years, William T. Rae, 82, of 2000 Court Street, died in a hospital Sunday morning after a brief illness. He was employe of Davidson Bros. department store here 56 years.

Mr. Rae was born April 24, 1860, in Aberdeen, Scotland. He moved to the United States with a sister at the age of 9. They settled at Dwight, Illinois, where he grew up to manhood. Later he moved to Cherokee, Iowa and clerked in a store there until 1886 when he came to Sioux City.

During his 56 years in the employ of Davidson’s, Mr. Rae worked mostly in the ready-to wear department.

Mr. Rae’s wife, Mrs. Nette Snyder Rae, died August 28, 1933. A son, Ernest, died five years ago.

Surviving are a son, Herbert of Minneapolis; six grandchildren, including Robert, studying for the ministry at Chicago, and Harrison, with the A.E.F. in Northern Ireland, and three great-grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Westcott-Doughty-Chandler Funeral Home.
