Humphrey Rites Set For Today

Services for Laundry Man to Be Held at Masonic Temple

Masonic rites will be carried out at the funeral services for James B. Humphrey, prominent Sioux City business man, who died Tuesday night at a Sioux City hospital.

The services will be held at the Masonic temple this afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. E.F. Rippey officiating. Members of Tyrian lodge, No. 508, A.F. and A.M. will give the Masonic rites at the grave, under the direction of Oscar J. Hoberg, acting worshipful master.

Active pallbearers will be T.B. Hutton, I.M. Lyon, L.S. Wernli, William Hayward, Capt. Porterfield and Fred Hutchins.

Honorary pallbearers: W.H. Jones, J.G. Sibert, F.D. Hennessy, Ed Currier, George M. Kellogg and James Newton.

Interment will be in Graceland Park Cemetery.

Mr. Humphrey was one of the pioneers in the Sioux City dry cleaning business. His death followed a long illness that became critical Monday night.

Mr. Humphrey came to Sioux City when he was but 3 years old. With his parents settled in Maquoketa, where they lived until 1880. He resided at Cedar Rapids from 1880 to 1888, when he came to Sioux City.

At the time of his death, Mr. Humphrey was owner and manager of the Cascade Laundry. He opened one of the first dry cleaning and dyeing establishments in Sioux City.
