Longtime Resident of Smithland Dies Following Attack

Smithland, Iowa—Special: Stricken with a heart attack while on his way downtown, John Frank Yockey, 74, a resident here for 66 years died Friday.

Mr. Yockey, a merchant here for 37 years, and Jessie Burns of Hornick were married in Sioux City. He was born in Ohio November 13, 1859. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Surviving, besides his widow, are two sons, Jordan of Sioux City and Rex of Webster City; two brothers, Edward of Canada and C.C. Yockey of Correctionville and three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Klein of Sioux City; Mrs. Nora Taylor of Smithland and Mrs. Pauline Rawson of Onawa.

Funeral services will be held in Smithland at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon with Rev. C. E. Stevens of Smithland and Rev. Mr. Pickersgill of Mapleton officiating.

The Byers funeral home of Mapleton has charge of arrangements.
