Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Church of the Nazarene for Joseph Francis, 83 years old, resident of Woodbury County 66 years, who died Sunday in his home at 5061 Orleans Avenue.

Rev. J.M. Jones, pastor of the church, will officiate and burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery under the direction of W. Harry Christy Funeral Home.

Mr. Frances was born in England and came to the United States with his parents when he was 4 years old. He came to Woodbury County in 1865. He had lived in Sioux City several years.

Miss Olive Miller and Mr. Frances were married August 6, 1871, in Oto, Iowa. Frances was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

The deceased man is survived by 13 children, five of whom are daughters.

They are: Mrs. M.E. Ringrose of Des Moines, Mrs. E.G.Ganoe, of Sloan, Iowa, Mrs. R.L. Arnold of Hornick, Iowa, Mrs. Olive Jackson of Oto and Mrs. Ruth Bowers of Smithland. Eight sons also survive him. They are George of Kettle Falls, Wash., C.J. of Sebeka, Minn., of Sioux City, S.J. of Oto, L.H. and Leonard both of Climbing Hill, Lawrence of Sioux City and Hobart Francis of Hornick. Forty-four grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also are included among the survivors.
