Forrest A. Vermilyea, 65, retired Woodbury County farmer, died Thursday afternoon at his home in Climbing Hill after a heart attack suffered while working in the yard.

Born May 19, 1879, in Indiana, he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Vermilyea, to Woodbury County. They settled on a farm one and one-half miles east of Climbing Hill. In 1936 he retired from the farm and moved to Moville where he lived until two years ago when he returned to Climbing Hill, where he built a new home.

On April 8, 1908, he married Josie Burkhart of Holly Springs at Camp Creek. He was a member of the Climbing Hill Baptist Church and the Modern Woodman of America of Climbing Hill.

Survivors are the widow, Josie, a son, Earl of Climbing Hill, a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Ruth of Odessa, Texas, a brother, Platt of Climbing Hill, two sisters, Mrs. May Gasaman and Mrs. Jessie Lyons, both of Climbing Hill, and two grandchildren.

The body was taken to the W. Harry Christy funeral home in Morningside.

Funeral services for Forrest A. Vermilyea, 65, retired Woodbury County farmer, who died Thursday at his home in Climbing Hill after a heart attack suffered while working in his yard, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Climbing Hill Baptist Church with Rev. M.L. Metcalf of Kingsley officiating. Burial will be in the Climbing Hill Cemetery under the direction of the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home.
