C.H. Kelsey Dies Was Iowa Pioneer
Funeral Services Are Being Held Today—For—Longtime County Resident

Funeral services for C. H. Kelsey, 80 year old resident of Woodbury County since 1879, who died Wednesday afternoon in the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.L. Smith, 2425 South Cypress Street, after a week’s illness of pneumonia, will be held Friday afternoon at 12:30 o’clock in W. Harry Christy’s funeral chapel and at 2 o’clock in the Methodist Church in Holly Springs, Iowa. Rev. H.G. Lumbard will officiate at the services here. Rev. Carl Hammer assisted by Rev. Lubard, will officiate at Holly Springs. Burial will be in the Holly Springs Cemetery. W. Harry Christy’s funeral parlors are in charge.

Mr. Kelsey was born in Marysville, Ohio, October 14, 1848. When 12 years old he moved with his parents to Dubois, Illinois, remaining there until 1879 when he came to Woodbury County, near Holly Springs. He was married to Miss Maire Brown in Perry County, Illinois in 1872. His wife died in 1899. Mr. Kelsey was a member of the Methodist Church of Holly Springs.

Surviving are two sons, I.F. Kelsey and H.P. Kelsey, both of Sioux City; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Metcalf of Holly Springs, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. M.M. Seward both of Sioux City, Mrs. Allie Metcalf of Holly Springs; a brother, G A. Kelsey of Smithland, Iowa and a sister, Mrs. Lucy T. Cole of Boston, Mass., 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
