SIOUX CITY | Jean Buckner Klopstad, 83, of Sioux City passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, at a local hospital of complications from Parkinson’s disease.

Memorial services will be at a later date at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Jay Denne officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be the hour prior to the service at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements. Jean was born Oct. 17, 1932, in Danville, Ill., the daughter of John Jefferson and Bessie (Dewey) Buckner. She moved with her family to Sioux City in 1939. Jean graduated from Central High School in 1950, and then attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Mo., for two years. In 1954, she graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. After college she worked for Hallmark Cards, Inc., in Kansas City, Mo., for two years.

On May 25, 1957, she married John B. Klopstad Jr. in Sioux City. Jean worked for Consumer Credit Corp. for five years.

Jean was a member of Chapter IL, PEO, and Portfolio Study Club and a former member of the Sioux City Junior League. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and a former member of the Altar Guild, serving as president for two years.

Jean enjoyed reading, playing bridge, volunteering at the Cancer Center and being with her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Jeff (Lynn) Klopstad of Tabernash, Colo., and Andy (Erin) Klopstad of Ames, Iowa; two grandchildren, Grace and Sam Klopstad; three stepgrandchildren, Shawn, Sarah and Jesse; six step great-grandchildren; a twin sister and her husband, Joan and Ronald Krage of Sioux City; a niece, Courtney Krage; and a nephew, Gary (Teresa) Krage and their children, Erin and Matthew Krage.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials are suggested to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Parkinson's Disease Foundation or June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
