SIOUX CITY | Constance Elaine “Connie” Bennett, 84, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home after a lengthy illness.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Connie was born April 28, 1932, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Catherine (Edgar) Byrne. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in the class of 1950.

On June 18, 1954, she married Robert Edward Bennett. Together they raised two children, Mike and Robbi. During the 1950s, Connie was a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell.

Connie enjoyed reading, cooking and time spent with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Mike and Shelly Bennett of Sioux City; a daughter, Roberta “Robbi” Boddy and her fiancé, Brian Trometer of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Jean and Bob Hussey of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Kyle (Kelsey) Bennett, Jessica Bennett, Claire Bennett and Tanner Boddy; and a great-granddaughter, Kemri Marie Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and an infant daughter, Catherine
