SIOUX CITY | Romelda M. Thompson, 86, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial to be in St. Frances Cemetery, Randolph, Neb. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.

Romelda was born on April 9, 1930, in Randolph, the daughter of Lawrence and Laura (Neubauer) Rohloff. She graduated in 1948 from the Belden (Neb.) High School.

On May 9, 1951, she was united in marriage to Donald Thompson. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Sioux City. Romelda was a homemaker.

She enjoyed dancing, growing flowers and watching birds. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Romelda was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Romelda is survived by her son, Jerry Thompson; her daughters, Vicki (Wayne) Vala and Janice Thompson, all of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Mandi Thompson, Jason Frederick, Jake and Maddison Thompson; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Pat (Bob) Grove of Marshalltown, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald in 2009; a grandson, Josh Thompson; one brother; and three sisters.
