SIOUX CITY | Frances Caroline (Newton) O'Keefe Egan, 93, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.

Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place. Family graveside services will be in Superior, Iowa, at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside.

Frances was born on June 25, 1922, in Sioux City, to John A. and Abigail (Baker) Newton. She received her education in Sioux City, graduating from Central High School in 1941.

She married Max O’Keefe. She later married E.W. Egan in August 1984 and had lived in Sioux City since that time. Frances worked for the Spirit Lake (Iowa) Library for a number of years before ending her career as the director of the library.

She was active in P.E.O., Travelers Club and worked as a volunteer for the Humane Society and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include 14 nieces and nephews; 29 grandnieces and grandnephews; and numerous great-grandnieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church or the Spirit Lake Library in Frances' memory.

She will be missed by family and friends.
