Funeral services for L.C. Moore, 85, of Anthon were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Anthon Methodist Church with Rev. A. Dyson of Correctionville officiating.

Mr. Moore died Tuesday, June 10, 1947, at a Sioux City hospital. The funeral was postponed from Thursday due to the rain that day. Burial was in the Peiro Cemetery in Grant Twp.

Leander Corwin Moore was born July 14, 1861, near Carthage, Illinois, and came to Appanoose Co., Iowa, at the age of 17 years. There he married Margaret McConnell August 2, 1881. In October 1882 Mr. and Mrs. Moore moved to to York Co., Nebraska, where they farmed eight years. Later they settled in the Peiro community in Woodbury County, remaining there until they retired in 1941 and moved to Anthon.

Mr. Moore was an active and faithful member of the Bethel Methodist Church in Grant Twp.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. William (Jennie) Diest of Oral, South Dakota; a son, Frank Moore of Anthon; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother, Rev. C.H. Moore of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Preceding him were a son, Robert, who died in 1919 and a daughter, Ethel, who died in 1939.
