Ione Moore, 92, of Ames, Iowa, formerly of the Oto and Anthon, Iowa area, died Sunday, August 18, 2002, at her daughter's residence in Ames.

Services were held August 21, at United Methodist Church in Anthon. Burial was in Bethel Peiro Cemetery, near Anthon and Oto. Arrangements were under the direction of Stevens Memorial Chapel, Ames.

Mrs. Moore was born October 17, 1909, on a farm near Oto, the daughter of Christopher Columbus and Mary (Maughan) Allman. She received her teaching certificate from Morningside College in Sioux City in 1930. She taught country school for many years. She married Victor Moore October 3, 1942, in Anthon. They farmed the homestead near Oto until their retirement. She also taught in the Anthon-Oto Community School system in the 1960s.

After wintering in Harlington, Texas, for twelve years, she moved to Ames to live with her daughter. She was active in the Peiro Bethel United Methodist church, serving as pianist for many years, and was on the Bible School and Sunday School committees. She was a long time member of Peiro Women's Society of Christian Service. She served on the Woodbury County 4-H committee and in 1969 was awarded the Diamond Clover Award for 20 years of service. She was also a lifetime member of the Thonna Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the United Methodist church in Anthon.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Johnson of Ames; a son and his wife, Galen and Jill Moore of Ames; four grandchildren; and a brother, Millard Allman of Lawton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
