Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur Sawin, 74, lifelong resident of the community, who died Saturday at her home after a long illness, were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Methodist Church in Anthon. Rev. Wesley Frank officiated at the services. Burial was in the Peiro-Bethel Cemetery west of Anthon under direction of Walter Funeral Home.

Laura Ellen Sawin, daughter of Chris and Amanda Eckert, was born March 25, 1889, in Grant Twp. In 1907 she graduated from Oto High School and later taught school in Grant Twp. for nine years. On February 12, 1916, she married Arthur Sawin at Cherokee. They farmed five and one-half miles southwest of Anthon for their entire married life, except for the last two years when they lived in the town of Anthon. They were the parents of one son.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur; one son, Willerd; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Mead of Anthon; one brother, Willerd Eckert of San Manuel, Arizona.

She was preceded by her parents.
