Following their marriage they lived on a farm in Appanoose County until 1880, when they moved to York Co., Nebraska, living there until 1886 when they filed on a homestead in Chase County. They lived there only two years, when they returned to York County and spent the next twelve years. In 1899 they moved to a farm eight miles west of Anthon and resided there twelve years. They then purchased a farm in Antelope Co., Nebraska, and remained there until Mr. Carter's death. Mrs. Carter then came back to Anthon to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. W.N. Dixon, west of Anthon. Mrs. Carter had been bedfast nearly two years, most of which time she was virtually helpless. However, she was the most patient of sufferers.

Mrs. Carter was converted at an early age and United with the Methodist church and remained a faithful Christian until the end.

Four children preceded her in death: Franklin G. in infancy; Charles and Mrs. Pearl Metcalf in 1928 and Mrs. Mayme Wendel in 1936.

The four surviving children are Mrs. Olive Dixon of Anthon; J.R. of Oto; Mrs. Kathryn Dice of Sioux City, and Clarence of Elgin, Nebraska; plus 21 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Allie Baird of Carthage, Illinois, and two brothers, L.C. Moore of Anthon and Rev. Chancey Moore of Spencer, Nebraska. Last rites were held in the Piero Bethel Church on Tuesday, December 16, 1941, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.C. Smith.

Interment was in Bethel Cemetery beside her husband under direction of Hudgel's Funeral Service.
