SIOUX CITY | Dorothy A. Sabo, 98, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at home, comforted by family.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. R. Paul Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present at 6 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Dorothy was born May 23, 1917, in Bayard, Neb., to John D. and Mary (Leslie) Cain. She received her education in Winnebago and Homer, Neb.

Dorothy married Carl Leonard Sabo Sept. 4, 1936, in Sioux City.

She was an amazing homemaker. She worked outside the home at Tangerson's Nursing Home for four years, and Marian Health Center for 33 years. Dorothy moved to Florida following the death of her husband in 1989.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church throughout her years living in Sioux City, along with the years she lived in Florida.

Survivors include her children, Joan Simmons of Eugene, Ore., Kenneth (Gloria) Sabo of Las Cruces, N.M., Marjorie Rempel of Oceanside, Calif., Mary Sabo of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Duane Sabo of New Port Richey and Donald (Diana) Sabo of Stanton, Iowa; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 11 siblings, Margarette, John, Rowena, Leslie, Mike, David, Bea, Harold, Millie, Charlie and George.
