SIOUX CITY | Roger Dale Hodges, 67, of Sioux City, formerly of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital, surrounded by his family.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with Chaplain Hector Perez officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Roger was born Jan. 7, 1949, in Sioux City, the son of Richard C. and Dollie (Orr) Hodges. Roger served with the U.S. Army for 14 months in Vietnam.

After his honorable discharge, Roger worked for IBP for several years. He moved to Louisiana where he worked in the oil refineries. He later worked in Colorado for a short period before returning to Sioux City.

Roger lived the majority of his life in Sergeant Bluff, where he owned and operated R & D Tree Service until 2004.

Roger was married to Barbara Abrahanson. They had two daughters, Jamie and Jeanine.

Roger loved to hunt and fish, but his favorite hobby was shooting guns.

Survivors include his mother, Dollie Hodges of Sioux City; two brothers, Richard (Jenny) Hodges and Russell Hodges, all of Sioux City; two daughters, Jamie (Ed) Marquardt and Jeanine Arndt of North Carolina; four grandchildren; and several nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard in 2005.

Pallbearers will be Ron Hodges, Jeremy Hodges, Jordan Menard, Joel Reed, Mike Benson Jr. and Shane Benson.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Kajewski.
