SIOUX CITY | Barbara Goldberg, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Eastern Nebraska Veterans' Home in Omaha, at the glorious age of 92.

Private services with military honors will be held.

Originally from New Jersey, she met her husband of 64 years, Sidney Goldberg (died in 2008), while she was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and he was in the Marines.

They made their home in Sioux City where they raised their two daughters, Sandra Wendel of Omaha, and Peggy McShea of Prescott, Ariz. They traveled the world, taught sailing in Puerto Rico, and lived 35 years on the beach in Sarasota, Fla.

Barb was known locally for her prowess as an accomplished bowler (with lifelong friend, doubles and team partner, and hall of famer Lo Borschuk).

She is lovingly remembered by her family that now includes three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to UnitedAnimalFriends.org.
