SIOUX CITY | Pauline Jeanette Beales, 93, of Sioux City died Saturday, April 9, 2016, at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Augustana Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Pauline was born on April 20, 1922, in Sioux City, daughter of Emil O. and Anna Victoria (Adamson) Benson. She attended Sioux City Schools, graduating from Central High School with the Class of 1940. Pauline was employed by Wincharger Corp. for several years during the Second World War

Pauline married Thomas Merle Cox on Nov. 13, 1947, in Illinois, where they resided for a short time before returning to Sioux City. In 1950, they moved to California where Thomas was employed by Lockheed and Pauline worked at May Co. for five years. Upon Thomas’ retiring, they moved again to Sioux City, where he passed away in 1981. There were two children born to the union, Dennis Lee and Timothy Dean. Dennis Lee Cox passed away in 2010.

Pauline was employed by J.C. Penney for 12 years and for the City of Sioux City for three years. Pauline married Edward Harvey Beales on Aug. 24, 1991. The couple moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., where they lived for 12 years. Returning to Sioux City in 2003, Pauline and Ed were members of Augustana Lutheran Church, where she was active in WELCA Church Circle, served as librarian and church greeter. Pauline loved working with “Piece Corps Quilters” of the Augustana Church. She was past officer of Isis Chapter O.E.S, then a member of Rose Croix O.E.S., “St. Luke’s Partners." She loved to draw and paint, and she made “wonderful” pancakes. Edward passed away in 2008.

Pauline is survived by her son, Timothy Dean Cox (Kristie) of Omaha; sister, Beverly Ball (Jim) of Menifee, Calif.; grandchildren, Xander Thomas Cox and Shailey Lauren Cox of Omaha; niece, Stefanie Humphrey of Carson City, Nev.; nephews, Mark Serebrin (Nancy) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Scott Serebrin; cousins, Deanna Bower of Sioux City, and Jim Adamson of Cherokee, Iowa.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother; sister, Donabelle Benson; one son; and both husbands.

Memorials may be offered to Augustana Lutheran Church in Pauline’s name.
