SIOUX CITY | Charles F. Bean, 78, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.

Per his request, the body will be cremated. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trimble United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Private family burial of the cremains for Charles and his wife, Patricia will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service will be at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Charles was born on Sept. 5, 1937, in Sioux City, to George R. and Della Alice (Harvey) Bean. He graduated from Dakota City High School and attended Wesleyan College in Lincoln, Neb.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Carol Smith on Feb. 14, 1960, in Washta, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2015, in Sioux City. Charles was a supervisor for 48 years at Aalfs Manufacturing, retiring in January 2006.

He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed spending time bowling. In his youth, he enjoyed playing basketball and was very involved in 4-H raising hogs for which he received numerous ribbons. He was a member of Trimble United Methodist Church.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Dani (Gary) Tompkins of Sioux City, and Barbara Bean and special friend, Jed Leachman of El Paso, Texas; son, Greg (Andrea) Bean of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.
