SIOUX CITY | Joye O. Suhr, 87, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, at a local care facility.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Morgan Township Cemetery, near Schleswig, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Joye was born on Nov. 25, 1928, in Monroe, La., the daughter of C. Orville and Freda (Vinson) Bell. Joye graduated from Eldon High School in 1946 and then from the Sioux City School of Beauty in 1948.

She married John H. "Jack" Suhr on Sept. 17, 1950, in Cherokee, Iowa. He died on Aug. 2, 2015, in Sioux City.

Joye enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to bake and sew. Jack and Joye enjoyed going to car shows and taking their motor home to Sun City, Ariz., during the winter. She had a strong belief in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Faith.

Survivors include her three daughters, Rebecca Amensen of San Diego, Calif., Cindee Van Meter of Sioux City and Mindee Gaskell of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Jason (Katie) Nordgren, Matthew (Kelli) Van Meter, Sara Van Meter and Zachary Gaskell and his fiancee, Amber; and five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jacob, Isaac, Chloe and Grayson.

Joye was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Jack.
