Grace N. Groszkrueger was born on March 14, 1933, at her parents' farm in rural Correctionville. Grace was one of eight children born to Leslie and Lola Fitch. She attended school in Correctionville and graduated in 1951.

Grace married Henry G. Groszkrueger on Oct. 13, 1951, at Methodist Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa, attended by Grace's brother Cyril Fitch and his new bride, Geraldine. Grace and Henry first lived in a home in Correctionville before moving to Midway on the Van Houten farm. She and Henry also clerked auctions for McGuire Auction of Holstein, Iowa. Later as her children were older, she worked outside the home enjoying her time working with her friends and co-workers at Calico Corner. Next, she learned furniture upholstery from Vera McCune and eventually opened her own shop in Correctionville, refinishing and refurbishing furniture, offering mending and tailoring services, and selling antiques.

Grace was a loving mother and a talented seamstress. She always enjoyed being busy either gardening, canning, repairing anything that was broken, baking, spending time with her sisters and grandchildren and occasionally traveling.

Survivors include her children, Greg Groszkrueger (Sharen), Becky Bollmeyer (Gary), Tom Groszkrueger and Trudy Schaefer (Michael); her grandchildren, Shawn Groszkrueger (Jeri), Frankie Deeds (Brandon), Anna Groszkrueger and Sami Schaefer; great-grandchildren, Chrissa and Hunter Deeds, Mason and Morgan Groszkrueger; and sisters, Norma Mathers and Alta Clark of Correctionville and Marie Koskovich of Seattle, Wash.
