Anna Peter Newhouse, 99, born on June 29, 1902, the eldest daughter of Joseph and Kathryn Steinbach Peter, passed away on September 4, 2001, at a care center in San Francisco, California. Burial was along -side her husband in Oakland, California.

Anna attended the McAleer Country School and St. Mary’s Catholic School.

Anna helped on the farm and later worked as a telephone operator on the switchboard in Danbury, Iowa. She later worked in Omaha, Nebraska as various jobs in department store.

Anna married Roy Newhouse in June of 1936. In the late thirties they moved to Oakland, California, where they resided for the rest of their lives.

Anna is survived by one sister, Loretta (Squirt) Collins of Ogden, Utah and several nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her sisters, Susan Wessling and Bertha Collins and her brother Joseph Peter, Jr.

Anna was Leonard Wessling’s Godmother.
