X CITY | Douglas Charles Stewart, 62, of Sioux City went home to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, after a 22-year battle with colon cancer.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sunnybrook Community Church, with the Rev. Jeff Ream officiating. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date in Highmore, S.D. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Doug was born on Nov. 22, 1952, in Minneapolis, to John "O.D." and Sarah (Miles) Stewart. He graduated from high school in Bismarck, N.D. He went on to graduate from University of South Dakota.

He was united in marriage to Teri Lea Autry on Nov. 26, 1983, in Sioux City. He was an insurance agent for Legacy Financial.

He enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, playing the guitar, coaching his boys in soccer and was a fantastic chef. Of all the things he enjoyed in his life, his wife and kids were the most important. He was a member of Sunnybrook Community Church, where he was on the Worship Team.

He is survived by his wife, Teri Stewart of Sioux City; two sons, Tyler (Mindy) Stewart of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Alan Stewart and fiancee, Emberose Mulhall of Sioux City; sister, Susan (Steve) Ley of Dayton, Ohio; brother, David (Bev) Stewart of Colorado Springs, Colo.; dear friend, Jim Thomas of Climbing Hill, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents
