15 October 2015MOVILLE, Iowa | Lawrence F. Zellmer, 84, of Moville passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital surrounded by the love of his family.
Memorial services will be 6 p.m. Friday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Lawrence was born on Oct. 1, 1931, in Strawberry Point, Iowa. He was adopted at the age 11 by Fred and Julia Zellmer. He graduated from Moville High School.
Lawrence married Sharon Monk on Dec. 23, 1951, right before leaving for the service. He served his country during the Korean War and received many medals including a Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, and United Nations and National Defense Service. He was a hard worker and a farmer all his life.
Lawrence enjoyed fishing and always looked forward to his Minnesota fishing trips. The enjoyment Lawrence got out of life was spending time with his family, his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Lawrence is survived by his sons, Dallas and Pam (Sitzmann) Zellmer, and Dene Zellmer, all of Moville; grandchildren, Kyle and Kim (Olson) Zellmer, and great-granddaughters, Mesa and Sierra of Hinton, Iowa; and grandchildren, Jason and Katie (Zellmer) Henrichs and great-grandchildren, Hadlee and Jaxon of Sioux City.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; and an infant daughter, Dawn.
