Georgia Geraldine Humbert, 81, of Sioux City died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Embassy Nursing & Rehab in Sergeant Bluff.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Georgia was born Sept. 25, 1922, at Soldier, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Grace (Lehmberg) Severson. She attended school and graduated from Soldier High School. She continued her education at Wayne State College and began working as a teacher near Soldier and later at Oakland, Iowa.

Georgia married G.F. "Frank" Humbert on Nov. 10, 1946, at Hiawatha, Kan. After their marriage, they moved to Omaha, Neb., where Georgia taught school. Together they lived in many states until moving to Sioux City in 1959. Georgia spent most of her teacher career at Sergeant Bluff. She retired and continued to teach English and citizenship to new immigrants at the Mary J. Treglia Community Center through Western Iowa Tech Community College.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church. Georgia enjoyed reading and gardening.

Survivors include her husband, G.F. "Frank" of Sioux City; two sons, Michael Humbert and his wife, Ann of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Thomas Humbert and his wife, Julie, of Sioux City; two sisters, Eleanor Clemon and Joan Mecom, both of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Tressa Humbert, Kate Humbert, Genell and John Fridley, Aaron Humbert and Benjamin Humbert; and two great-granddaughters, Kiley and Hanna Fridley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Humbert.
