30 December 2007Mary W. Everist, 79, of Sioux City died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center from complications of a stroke.
Private family graveside services will be held in Calvary Cemetery, with the Rev. Gary Snyder of St. Michael Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mary was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Sioux City, the daughter of Sylvester Francis and Evelyn (Mulhall) Wadden. She attended Blessed Sacrament School, North Junior and Central High School in Sioux City. She graduated from Rosary College in River Forest, Ill.
She married Daniel Everist at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on June 23, 1951, in Sioux City. Mary had been a resident of Sioux City for the last 40 years.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She was an accomplished artist and a longtime member of the Sioux City Art Center.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Everist of Sioux City; eight children, Elizabeth and John Romeo of Irving, Texas, Sarah Everist of Sioux City, Mary Pat Everist of Sarasota, Fla., Neal and Juliet Everist of Sioux City, Jim and Chris Everist of Oakland, N.J., Andy and Donna Everist of Overland Park, Kan., Luke and Mary Everist of Asheville, N.C., and Teresa and William Delfs of Sioux City; three brothers and their wives, John and Pat Wadden of Lake Worth, Fla., Rick and Angela Wadden of Wilmette, Ill., and Tony and Becky Wadden of Spokane, Wash.; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her four sons, Neal, Jim, Andy and Luke Everist. Honorary pallbearers will be her three brothers, John, Rick and Tony Wadden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Indian Hills Nursing & Rehab Center
