30 December 2007Francis X. "Frank" Beacom, 80, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at his residence.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Larkin Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial of the ashes will be at a later date. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Frank was born on Sept. 12, 1927, in Sioux City, the son of Vincent and Anna (Gengler) Beacom. He was raised in Sioux City and attended Immaculate Conception Grade School. He also attended East High School. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific Theater.
On Oct. 20, 1951, he married Shirley L. Jolin in Sioux City. The couple made their home in Sioux City until 1979, when they moved to several different parts of the country for work. They came back to Sioux City in 2003. Frank was a project manager for several major construction companies around the country.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was also a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, Local 18. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Sioux City; a son, Steven F. Beacom of Le Mars, Iowa; three daughters, Peggy Beacom of San Diego, Calif., Cathy and Jim Kennedy of Rockville, Md., and Susan and Mark Bierer of Flagstaff, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Nicole Beacom, Bonnie and Jamey Kennedy, and Ryan and Sean Bierer; three brothers, Vincent and his wife, Lucia Beacom of Champlin, Minn., Richard Beacom of Seal Beach, Calif., and Miles Beacom of Mexico; and a sister and her husband, Charlotte and Paul Morin of Sioux City.
