Salix, Iowa—Edward J. Schopp, 80, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Salix, died Friday, March 5, 1999, at his residence.
Services were March 9 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in San Antonio. Burial was in Fort Sam Houston Cemetery.
Mr. Schopp was born May 8, 1918, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Frank and Gertrude (Butler) Schopp.
In 1926, he moved with his family to Salix. He attended St. Joseph’s School and Salix High School.
He served in the U.S. Army Engineers during World War II.
He farmed near Salix for many years before moving to Texas.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include a sister, Jeanne Yanak of Salix; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sister, Mary Hittle; and two brothers Jack and Bob Schopp.
