Henri J. Chicoine, 71, of Downers Grove, Ill., formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at his residence.

Services will be Tuesday, April 17, at St. Mary of Gostyn Church in Downers Grove. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Adams-Winterfield and Sullivan Funeral Home in Downers Grove.

Mr. Chicoine was born June 2, 1929, in Sioux City. He was raised in Sioux City.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1950 and 1950 to 1952.

He was a teacher at Downers Grove North High School from 1957 to 1989.

He was a volunteer at Care Counseling, Fish and Sharing Connection.

Survivors include a son Mark Alan of Naperville, Ill.; three daughters, Mary Alice Chicoine of Carol Stream, Ill., Yvonne Marie Chicoine of Starke, Ill., and Juli Ann Gnigdek of Downers Grove; and three grandchildren.
