James E. Bueltel 1948 - 2002

SERGEANT BLUFF -- James E. Bueltel, 53, of Sergeant Bluff died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nativity Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., all at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Bueltel was born April 1, 1948, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Edmund and Lucille (Penning) Bueltel. He was raised in Granville, Iowa. He attended school there and graduated from Spalding High School in 1966.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1966. He continued his education at Nettleton Business College in Sioux City after his return from the military. He married Elizabeth Tobin on Feb. 15, 1975. He worked at Sherman Produce until it closed and then worked for the Sioux City Post Office until his retirement in 1994 due to medical reasons.

He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard.

Survivors include his wife; his mother of Granville; two daughters, Heather and her husband, Brad Bird of Lawrence, Kan., and Michelle Bueltel and her fiance, Mark Ouellette of Sioux City; a son, Pat Bueltel and his special friend, Tanya Sorenson of Sergeant Bluff; a brother, Bernard Bueltel of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Mary and Paul McGuirk of Sioux City; his father-in-law, Paul Tobin of Mitchell, S.D.; two grandchildren, Blake and Shelbie Ouellette; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and his mother-in-law, Shirley Tobin.
