MOVILLE, Iowa -- Arthur Eugene Paul Wirsig, 84, formerly of Moville and Keokuk, Iowa, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at the residence of his stepson and wife, Bob and Toon McDaniel, in Baton Rouge, La.

His ashes will be transported to Embury Methodist Church Cemetery in Lee County, Iowa for a private memorial service. Arrangements are under the direction of Seale Funeral Service in Denham Springs, La.

Mr. Wirsig, a retired cattle farmer, was born Oct. 19, 1917, to Lenora Aloysius and Arthur Edmond Wirsig in West Point, Iowa. He had lived in Moville from the age of two until he entered junior high school. He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country as a U.S. Merchant Marine.

He attended Weslyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and graduated from South Texas School of Law in Houston. He practiced law in Texas until he returned to Iowa to run his cattle farm.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Wirsig; three daughters, Molly Walker of Conover, N.C., Melissa Wirsig of Decatur, Ga., and Marsha Wirsig of St. Louis, Mo.; three stepsons, Bob McDaniel of Baton Rouge, La., Steve McDaniel of Bethlehem, Pa., and Tom McDaniel of Columbus, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Ryan and Kathryn Hester of Conover, N.C., and Adrienne Wirsig of St. Louis, Mo
