M. Lloyd White, 87, of Sioux City died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel, with the Rev. Bruce Lawler officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. White was born January 16, 1913, in Rosalie, Neb., the son of Otis and Margaret (Ryan) White. He was raised in Walthill, Neb., and graduated from Walthill High School.
He married Catherine Ryan on July 4, 1938, in Yankton, S.D. The couple made their home in Walthill until 1942, when they moved to Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his discharge he returned to Sioux City, where he was employed as a butcher with Joslin Grocery for many years. He was also employed as a carpenter and painter.
He coached boys Little League girls softball and he coached basketball at Sacred Heart School. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 54.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Knight, Betty Morley and Cathy Divis, all of Sioux City, and Mary Lou Buddi of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three sons, Charles of Sioux City, Douglas and his wife, Sheryl of Broomfield, Colo., and Pat of Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Tracey Divis, Andrea Morley, Christine Buddi, Doug and Chuck White and Gary Dalgliech.
