Donal D. Schumacher, 77, of Pittsburgh, California, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, July 15, 1999, in Pittsburgh.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. A.T. Washington officiating. Graveside services will be in Logan Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Schumacher was born February 11, 1922, in Ponca, Nebraska, the son of Louis and Marie “Babe” (Dalgliesh) Schumacher. He was raised in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Darlene Whelchel in March 1948, in Sioux City. The couple moved to California. They returned to Sioux City, where he was a partner in a restaurant. They moved back to California, where he was a partner in restaurants in Concord, California, until retiring in 1987.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Steve and Sharla of Anticoh, California and Douglas and Lela of Oxford, California; a brother and his wife, Dean and Laura of Iowa City, Iowa; a sister, Shirlee Farrell of Sioux City; and four grandchildren, Jodi, Jason, Vicki and Danelle.
