11 February 2002Aleck Yarosevich, 83, of Sioux City died February 8, 2002.
Private family services will be held. The body was cremated. Private family burial will be in Floyd Cemetery. There is no visitation. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Yarosevich was born June 11, 1918 in Sioux City, the son of William and Alice (Struskovich) Yarosevich. He married Louise L. LaBrune on December 23, 1939, in Sioux City. She died May 27, 2001, in Sioux City. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. He graduated from Central High School in 1936. He attended Nettleton Business Training College for accounting in 1937.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943 to 1945 as a flight officer bombardier.
He was employed by Sears and Roebuck from 1946 to 1951, and for the Sioux City Water Department from 1951 until his retirement in 1981. He enjoyed gardening and his grandchildren.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Aleck J. and Marlene of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Kim and Don Acker of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Justin Yarosevich and Jessica Acker; a great-grandchild, Joseph Yarosevich; and a brother and his wife, Bill and Priscilla Yarosevich of Hood River, Ore.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph Yarosevich.
Memorials in his name can be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
