William “Stan” Yeager 1915 - 2000

William “Stan” Yeager, 84, of Sioux City died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. John Hantla officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Yeager was born April 18, 1915, in Wall Lake, Iowa, the son of the Rev. Charles and Bertha (Rarick) Yeager. He was raised in the Northwest Iowa area.

He married Laura Carlson on August 17, 1941, in Lawton, Iowa. She died January 9, 1998, in Sioux City.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the European Theater.

He was a longtime Moville, Iowa, resident.

He was employed with Wilson Trailer and Hirschbach Trucking and retired from Heyl Trucking.

The couple retired to Akron, Iowa, in 1969. They moved to Sioux City in 1995.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Akron.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Brown of Sioux City and Polly and her husband, Keith Simkins, of Battle Creek, Mich.; a son, William C, of Le Mars, Iowa; four grandchildren.
