Forrest William Work, 83, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Sioux City died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at his residence.

Memorial services were held on March 11 at the First Covenant Church in Rancho Cordova, Calif. Private burial was in East lawn Sierra Hills. East Lawn Mortuary in Sacramento was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Work was born Dec. 25, 1917, in Vermillion, S.D. He moved to Sioux City at the age of one. He graduated from East High School where he was active in sports. He attended the University of Iowa. He served in the Medical navy Corp during World War II. He had been a Sacramento resident for 49 years. He worked for Aerojet General in Human Resources as the General Employment Manager. He retired from Wheaton College where he served 18 years in Public Relations.

He was an active member of First Covenant Church, serving on various boards.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter and her husband, Leslie, and Dana Griffin; and three granddaughters, Chelsea, Ashley and Arianna.
