Ray C. Wilshire Sr., 71, of Sioux City died Friday, October 22, 1999, in Sioux City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. James United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 3 to 5 p.m. at Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home.

Mr. Wilshire was born March 13, 1928 in Sioux City, the son of Joseph B. and Dora B. (Graves) Wilshire. He grew up in Sioux City, and went to Sioux City schools. He lived in Sioux City for most of his life, but spent a few years in Council Bluffs and Carroll, Iowa.

He married Evelyn Hills on June 17, 1948.

He married Florence Becker in 1974.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He owned and operated Carroll Compound for about 20 years. He also owned and operated Ray’s Wholesales LTD.

He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, and the Sioux City Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Survivors include Evelyn Wilshire, with whom he resided at the time of his death; two sons and their wives; James B. and Ruth Wilshire of Glenwood, Iowa, and Raymond C. Wilshire Jr. and Rose of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Tom Kielty of Norfolk, Nebr.; three grandchildren; Beau Wilshire, Rachel Friche and Drey Benjen; nine step-grandchildren; 13 brothers and sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Joseph, Paul “AL,” and Howard Wilshire.

Pallbearers will be William, Brian, Jason, Dennis, Denny, Jamie and Howard Wilshire.
