Wesley A. Hickson, 69, of Sioux City died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel with the Rev. Timothy Gill officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Sergeant Floyd Post 1973. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Hickson was born March 15, 1931, in Sioux City, the son of James Wesley and Margaret (Wright) Hickson. He attended Sioux City Public Schools. He moved to Illinois in 1957, and then moved back to Sioux City in 1966. He married Doris Scholten on Oct. 29, 1953, in Canton, S.D.

He was employed by Twedt/Bernard in Sioux City, and in Illinois he worked over the river at McDonald Aircraft in Missouri, then at Fruehauf Trailer and later at L & L Builders where he was a shop foreman.

He served in the U.S. Navy in Korea from 1950 to April 1954. He was a member of VFW Sergeant Floyd Post 1973.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Paul of Lakewood, Colo., Craig of Sioux City, and Allen and his wife, Barb of Wakefield, Neb.; three daughters and their husbands, Theresa and John Baker, Patty and Dan Link, all of Sioux City, and Elizabeth and Paul Hardy of Wellington, Colo.; two sisters, Minnie Hansen of Sioux City, and Maxine and her husband, Dick Bradford of Indianola, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Melissa, Jamie and Andrew Hickson, Samuel Baker, Jessica Hickson Cline, Dylan and Derek Link, Nathan and Andrea Hardy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Clara; a brother, Lloyd Hickson; and a granddaughter, Tiana Marie Hickson
