Odin M. "Butch" Larson, 78, of Sioux City died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at a Sioux City rehab center following a brief illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Allen D. Call of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 9 p.m., and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Mr. Larson was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Correll, Minn., the son of Peter and Lena (Petersen) Larson. He married Emily Rose Kliment on Nov. 1, 1947, in Sioux City. She died Dec. 11, 1992, in Sioux City.

He had lived in Sioux City since 1945. Shortly after that he worked as a trainer for the White Horse Mounted Patrol at Wallen Stables. He had been a terminal manager with Wilson Freight Lines, followed by United Buckingham.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Italy and Africa. He received the Purple Heart.

Survivors include a son, Duane Larson of Sioux City; four daughters, Patricia Mills and her husband, Richard Mount of Jefferson, S.D., Kathleen and her husband, Larry Blair of South Sioux City, Becky and her husband, Leonard March of McCook Lake, S.D., and Rita Larson of Sioux City; two brothers and their wives, Carl and Renate Larson of Sioux City, and John and Ann Larson of Longmont, Colo.; two sisters and their husbands, Mildred and Marvin Bixler of McMinnville, Ore., and Mabel and Clarence Lindahl of Brookings, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Raymond, Eddie and Leonard Larson; four sisters, Millie in infancy, Helen, Florence and Betty; and two grandsons, Todd Mills and Mark Bokemper.

Pallbearers will be Duane and Lonnie Bair, Jeremy Larson, Chad Blair, Richard Mount and Rick Rasmussen.
